The Schuylkill Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO) is prepared to assist you with your location planning and site assessment requirements.

SEDCO is a community-based, private, not-for-profit organization with almost 60 years of experience in assisting companies to locate or expand their operations in our community. We have developed effective partnerships with industry and government and have close working relationships with education and training service providers to assure qualified employment candidates for your business.

SEDCO presently manages 12 industrial sites representing over $1 billion in capital investment throughout the County of Schuylkill. We have extensive experience with project financing, site search and tour services, and facility / park construction and management.

Highridge Business Park, located between exits 116 and 119 along Interstate 81, is one of the largest mixed-use business parks in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. An up-to-date pdf version of the Highridge site plan can be downloaded here.


Fanelli Trucking and Warehousing was the first to acquire a site at Highridge. Lowe's Companies, Inc. followed and now operates a 1.2 million square-foot regional distribution center built on a 165 acre parcel.

Other distribution centers at Highridge include Wegmans Food Markets and an Electrolux facility comprising 455,000 square feet that is adjacent to a ProLogis-owned pad-ready expansion site for an 850,000 square foot building. Wal-Mart Inc. started operations in an almost 1 million square-foot distribution center for refrigerated and dry goods in summer 2006. Sara Lee Food & Beverage completed construction of a 182,000 square-foot distribution center for frozen and refrigerated food in fall 2007.

In 2008, JELD-WEN began operations from a new 350,000 square-foot door manufacturing plant and Jones Stephens Corp. opened a new 100,000 square-foot pipe and fittings distribution facility at Highridge.

Gordon Food Service began operations from a new 150,000 square-foot distribution center in October 2009.

Schuylkill County, with its rural character and population of fewer than 150,000 within its 779 square mile area, exemplifies an essential aspect of small town America: hard-working people doing their utmost to improve their quality of life.

In 2008, the estimated population of Pottsville, the largest town in the county, was 14,405.
