From the President

Beginning in 1952, the Greater Pottsville Industrial Development Corporation (GPIDC) embarked on a mission to improve the economic conditions of Schuylkill County. Responding to the collapse of the anthracite mining industry, community leaders from across Schuylkill County came together to find ways to create and retain employment opportunities for county residents.

GPIDC would eventually merge with multiple economic development organizations of various communities throughout the county to become the Schuylkill Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO).  SEDCO continues in its predecessors’ footsteps by developing industrial real estate, marketing the county to outside investors and helping existing employers thrive.

The key to SEDCO’s success has been the collaboration with its volunteer board of directors, staff and community stakeholders. Businesses can rest assured that Schuylkill County is a friendly place to locate an operation, where elected leaders, government officials and utility providers work in tandem toward economic progress.

I invite you to explore this website to find out all that Schuylkill County has to offer.  Should you require additional information, please do not hesitate to call the SEDCO office at 570-622-1943.
